To achieve what you want depends upon application server to application server.
Since you a static page(openup.htm) in between two servlets its not possible to pass
the value of userID from 1st servlet to second servlet. Why you are not generating the
openup.htm page from servlet(may be your requirement is like that only)
You can do it by cookie, just set this variable in cookie and extract this value in
the second servlet. You do it by putting the userID into a session object and retrieve
it.
If you can tell what server you are using then may be i can give you some more better
solution.
