I see that Jason Hunter's "Java Servlet Programming" as the bible for
servlets. :-)

For the THIRD time this morning, see Jason Hunter's "Java Servlet

As for file write permissions in Linux, change them for whatever directory
you are going to have the servlet write to (if I can remember my Unix):
$chmod 666 *
