No.  Starting with 2.2, the JSDK stuff was passed on to Apache as part
of the Jakarta project.  Tomcat is now, and will be, the reference
implementation of the servlet spec.  If you go to Sun's servlet page
and try to download the servlet implementation, it will be Tomcat
(although, as you found, they still have the JSDK 2.0 and 2.1
available).

Yes.  You don't want to be using JSDK 2.1, because there are major
changes in servlet spec 2.2 (which Tomcat 3.X implements), and also
2.3 (which Tomcat 4.X implements).

Perhaps so, but it's managable.  You might want to join the
