Well, certainly don't get the first edition, it's way out of date.
I'm surprised you can't find the second edition, it's been out a
little while at least (I won't make any Canada jokes :-). Well, maybe
you can get one of those bookstores to order a copy for you to look at
it, I'd think they'd want to have some on hand anyway. And of course
you can order online. I think Jason's web site has a page listing
some online places with good deals on the book -- I myself often use
http://www.addall.com -- an online "meta-bookstore".
