But it's not required. If a user doesn't have Javascript
enabled they miss out on some flash but can still use the
site. Some sites require Javascript to function at all,
which in general is not such a good idea.
If you don't buy that it's morally impure to require
Javascript :-), you might buy that that the relatively
small number of users who have Javascript turned off will
turn into an outsize fraction of your support calls (==$$$)
And anyway, who can afford to throw away users for no
good reason?
But as a previous poster pointed out, it all depends
on your deployment environment.
