Hi Tony,

Your approach (1) was the main theme behind Apache
Turbine project. Have a look at it at
http://www.jakarta.apache.org/turbine. The only
difference is that the main handler servlet executes
the screen requested and it can also initialize any
service you might register and then you can take
advantage of that service capabilities.
