I think that Java Applet is a better solution to this problem as
DHTML is not compatible with all browsers. Further more it also
depends upon the nature of the functionality that is to be achieved.

U can use JavaScript The performance of DHTMl and Javascript is much
better
than applet and it is light weigth also ....
