Hi Julio,

Thanks ; it worked i.e. I do not have to type "set classpath=c:\jdk1.3.1\lib\comm.jar;%classpath%" every time.

It still does not print i.e. when I type java SimpleWrite, it does nothing and after a few seconds gives me the DOS prompt again, no error message. I think the problem is with the interface from DOS to my printer. I tried typing dir > LPT1 in DOS and nothing happens and I get the DOS prompt again.

Your help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ken
