Since Mr. Fumagalli *is* the moderator of the list, he *is* in essense the list leader/owner. So yes he can unsubscribe you from the list, should you violate list policy, which it sounds like you did. (You should be aware of the policy when you join the list -- and I believe you are informed of such when you do join the list.) As to your "only purpose", besides the fact that it's a bit misguided, it is against the list policy. It's not really a good idea to join a discussion group, whether in-person or on-line, and then do things that are expressly against the rules of that group. And it's not totally unexpected that some action be taken (e.g. your being removed from that discussion group) as a result.
