"file://" will only work if the resource is on the same machine as the
browser or accessible through file system calls (i.e in is on a file
server, not http server). If you are running the browser on
intranet.netgear.com then you can try this:

file://$TOMCAT_HOME/webapps/reportsArchive/par/ProductDD.xls

where $TOMCAT_HOME is the full path to the TOMCAT base dir (or CATALINA_HOME
for tomcat4).

Subject: Problem with file URL

How come I can access this URL:
http://intranet.netgear.com:8080/reportsArchive/par/ProductDD.xls

But cannot access this URL:
file://intranet.netgear.com:8080/reportsArchive/par/ProductDD.xls

I get an error message that it cannot find the file. The error message says
make sure the path and filename are correct.
I am using Tomcat 4.0.1 Is there some configuration setup that I am
missing?

Thanks
