web.xml is defined by the servlet specification, so it's the same for every servlet container. The spec is available at: http://java.sun.com/products/servlet/download.html You'll want 'version 2.3 final release'. If you look at the end of the document, you'll see a fully commented DTD. There are more resource links at the bottom of every email to the list.
