hi viju,

sometimes there are some restrictions put on the mail server where
in u might not be allowed to send mails to external id.
its perfectly all right that u can send a mail to external ids thru ur inbox
a typical way of doing this is
ur mail server (say ..Penta )is connected to another mail server (say Penta
major )which actually takes care of sending mails to external ids.
and when u send a mail to say yahoo from ur inbox it sends it to Penta which
relays on to Penta major and Penta Major sends it to Yahoo using SMTP
and there could be some restrictions on Penta which might not allow ur
program to send mails to external id..

i had a smiliar problem while receiving mails from External ids (hotmail or
yahoo )
i came to know later that our local mail server was put behind firewall so i
cannot connect to it using POP3 .
another server takes care of receving mails from external ids and then send
it to local server.

so better get in touch with ut NetWorks team to get this issue clarified

let me know what happens

Rohan

Viju,
Is your machine connected to a DNS server? It sound's like it isn't.
