Response to client sent by a thread

Hi all,   All the clients contact the same servlet, and it determines the thread which makes some tasks. The servlet need not send responses back to the client. The thread will have the functionality of writing the response. Can i do this ? and how ? I welcome your views on the design.   Thanx Franck
