Regarding META tag information

Hi,
I have few doubts on HTTP headers and <META> tag.

1) Does the <meta> tag form part of getHeaderFieldXXX() methods (HTTP
headers)?
2) If the answer to the previous question is NO, then how can I obtain the
information in <META> tags, inside a HTML document (ofcourse, without
reading the contents of  html document through header information)?
