Well, the connection, once closed, will through an exception,
providing that you are generating output.  This obviously may not
happen, if the task does not generate output until completed.  In this
case I would suggest a framework where the busy task is split onto
another thread, allowing the client to either receive asynchronous
notification (such as an email), or have the client poll to see if the
task is completed.
