A self-signed certificate will never display as being trusted. You need to
get it signed by an independent and known certifying authority (e.g Thawte
or Verisign). You will have to pay whichever company you choose for a
signed certificate. Go to www.thawte.com for details.
Self-signed certificates are fine for development where you are interested
in ensuring that the SSL protocol is being used. For production, you will
need a properly signed certificate.

Imy.

Please respond to "A

Servlet API

actually, i just followed the SSL configuration setup instruction on the
Apache Tomcat 4.0
document. Everything is being explained there including the use of
"keytool" utility.
the only problem i have is when i access my servlet using a Java
Application through https.
it would ask for a trusted certificate which means i have to get a
signed certificate from a CA
but i already make use of the self-signed certificate generated by the
"keytool" utilily.
i don't have an idea why when access through web browser it could
determine the self-signed
certificate but when using Java application it won't determine that the
self-signed certificate i
use in the web server is trusted.
if you want the code for my Java Application i can send it. =)
