Do be aware of what this directive does. Effectively you are
implementing the SingleThreadModel interface. In most cases(if not every
case) you are far better off synchronizing selectively to ensure thread
safety.

It is the same issue as synchronizing an entire method versus only the
parts of the method which need to be thread safe.
