Thanks alot for helping me out, its really helpful :)
I'm a student and want to do this project to further my knowledge of java and would also like to learn how e-commence works.
The email idea was as you suggested, just an indication that an order has been placed, all it would contain is a message with a link to the order webpage (protected by secure connection) All the orders will have their own webpage with a main index page for managing them.
Does this sound secure? The credit card numbers will be stored in plain text on the html page on the server which could be a security risk? unless there is a way I can encrypt it.
Could you please tell me how I can charge a credit card directly? This is a step I have no idea about! :)
Thanks alot, if you have any other information/tips I would be greatful!

Make sure *NO* order detail information is sent in the email, just the fact that the order has arrived or been executed, or some other "status" which you might be interested in would be useful.
