On the download page at s@h is another client for Linux.  I can't access the
page right now as it is overloaded, but if you look closely the names will
be slightly different. I think the other client is the static version for
libc.  Download the other version and it will probably work for you.
Luckily there is only 2 choices for Linux running on a intel based machine
:)
