Steve, 

Thanks for the response.  Can you (or anyone else) tell me if the included
software (elementtree, PIL, etc) have static binaries and/or libraries, or
if they are dynamic (ELF, SO, or otherwise) and thus have their own
requirements of the underlying operating system?
