The ZEO server just provides storage space, basically all processing
takes place on the clients (except conflict resolution). I'd be quite
surprised if your ZEO server was the bottleneck.
However, if it is redundancy you are looking for, there is RelStorage
now which allows you to put the ZODB into an RDBMS (e.g. MySQL) and
use the RDBMS's scaling/replication features.
