We need a lot more detail in order to help you: Your Plone version;
Whether or not you're using cache-fu; What you're doing in the way of reverse proxying and front end caching; Whether or not you're using ZEO, how many clients you're running; The thread and buffer settings for your clients; The memory available on your server; whether or not it's swapping; the load. And, if you don't recognize any of those things, check them out immediately. They all have a tremendous affect on throughput.
