Radiohead's Meeting People Is Easy Hits Five Cities
After months of anticipation, Radiohead's documentary
feature, Meeting People Is Easy, finally has more
than just one U.S. screening date. Following its
debut at the South By Southwest music conference in
Austin, Texas on March 20, Meeting People Is Easy
will make its way to 12 theaters in four cities
nationwide.
Grant Lee, the film's director and cameraman -- who
was the eye behind the clip for Radiohead's "No
Surprises" video -- describes the work as a
"multi-media scrapbook about Radiohead 1997-98."
"The basic premise is that here are a bunch of
articulate, essentially shy people who somehow are
able to create this huge, astonishing music, and as
a result find themselves in the
strange/insane/seductive world of end-of-the-century
celebrity with thousands of people wanting to meet
them, thousands of cameras and microphones
constantly siphoning off little bits of them,"
explains Lee in the film's synopsis.
Meeting People Is Easy is due in stores on video and
DVD on May 4 via Capitol.
