Regarding the name Rapeman - I interviewed Steve Albini during this era of his
career and he explained that Rapeman was actually the name of a Japanese comic
book. He didn't really "get it," probably because it was in Japanese - but he
found the image rather interesting; a "superhero" who defends the downtrodden
by raping their enemies. Also, don't take everything at face value, sometimes
you have to scratch beneath the surface to understand things. A kneejerk
reaction is exactly what Steve Albini loves to provoke. Like most artists,
including Girls Against Boys, you have to do some digging to truly appreciate
what they are trying to acheive.........

Well, i said i would apologize promptly and profusely if overreacting
to the band mention situation and i guess i will, i think, or something.
This site is working now and it appears as though the band title Rapeman
was used in an ironic anti-ish fashion. At least i think so, as Steve
Albini appears to be speaking English although his message is often hard
to discern. I'd still say it's a phenomenally lame name for a band and i
remain rather confused about this whole thing as the info on the other
websites is very scary, but anyway, sorry, i think. And of course many,
many, many sorries for clogging your email with this uplifting info.

shutting up now,
Tiffany
