You can also use PulseAudio, Pulse is a layer on top of alsa, not a conflicting 
sound subsystem. Of course, Pulse is not perfect and we prefer to support both 
alsa+pulse or alsa alone. So patches are stil very welcome. PulseAudio have 
been used on ARM before, it should just work. You might also want to take a 
look at the Mer project to see how well it fit your needs.
