Hi, Your dbus-send command work fine for me. But an alternative is "qdbus", it is probably already installed on your system.
About the dock config serialization, I made another commit to try to fix it (I hide and show the dock very quickly to try to make sure they are in sync with the config), but I am on the dark on this, I really can't reproduce the issue. If this does not solve the issue, how are your dock positioned? I have tried right clicking on the menu to hide/show them? In that case, does it save correctly? Do you use Ubuntu Unity or some other WM/DE that might mess up the GUI layout without notifying the application? And by the way, have my VCARD fix worked for you?
