There is a tool in the SFW gate that will automatically generate a first
pass at packaging of an open source component (pkgtemplate.pl). It
doesn't do depend files right now, but I have changes to it to generate
a dependency list as well. I use "dump -Lv file" and look for the
"NEEDED" files in the packages in an install image (or optionally a
contents (/var/sadm/install/contents) file).
