Nice coincidence. I was typing a similar request mail when this mail arrived.
In the past few weeks/months there have been many sfw related ARC
submissions and the consolidation has been growing in size.

For those wanting to contribute to the network repository, I have 2
requests for consideration.
1. Provide SFW via hg or svn. A tarball that is updated regular and
continues to grow beyond 500MB is difficult to use.
2. Consider using spec files approach followed by the desktop team.
They have been delivering lots of software to SX as well Indiana via
this approach for a long time now. That seems to be a far better
approach compared to this one. The current sfw approach seems
difficult to scale.

A new repository spec-files-other has been setup by the desktop team
for a similar purpose
(http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/desktop-discuss/2008-February/012554.html).
Either this or something similar can be utilized.
