Dermot, One thing I had mentioned to Mark Johnson originally but forgot on the subsequent review is that on Debian (and perhaps other systems) ships an example Inputrc file. I'd like to suggest this be shipped under /usr/demo somewhere - perhaps /usr/demo/readline?
