The patch worked very well. It contains definitions of two run time configuration variables which ensure (or rather should ensure) that the default behavior remains unchanged and generation of the offline flag has to be enabled explicitly. At this point, I don't see any reason why not to integrate the patch. SAMFS users will probably be happy to have one reason less why to use a custom samba build. Nils
