This is the thread http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/sysadmin-discuss/2009-February/003179.html Essentially it'd be exposing the same data seen via vmstat, mpstat, iostat, fsstat, etc. via snmp with possibly looking at other things later on. A key question is what OID to use -- something under enterprises.sun.products.management.sma (1.3.6.1.4.1.42.2.2.4) (in which case we need to get with whoever manages that namespace to get a number), or should we persue getting our own OID. Someone also noted there was an ARC case to upgrade sma to a more recent version of net-snmp, and we wanted to be sure that any module we create would be as forward compatible as possible (or at least to be able to coordinate so if the new version is delivered, the perfmib module as we're calling it would still work).
