no that's not the problem. You must have also done a bringover and
picked up the putback I did last night to fix this (which I'll
probably regret as usual).
Internally you can always check how the gate built first, there are
links to the mail message and logs off the sfwnv.sfbay web page and
copies are also in /ws/sfwnv-gate/usr/src.

you certainly can do that, though be aware those change daily and the
people who change them do not always make sure that sfw builds cleanly
with such changes. So you'll be on your own (though generally tools
changes don't affect us because we don't use most of the tools that
do change, like the ctf* ones, but there have been a few to nightly
that have affected us).
