I've been meaning to mention this, the above reminded me about it... One of the areas I find lacking in sfw is that as far as we can see there is no continuous automatic build/test cycle running & reporting. I had never worked on a project which lacked this so it's like flying blind and with no instrumentation! Other than "crossing fingers", how can someone who has integrated keep an eye on things? AFAIK, they can't? In Web Server we use tinderbox (http://www.mozilla.org/tinderbox.html) but even simpler scripts could do the job. The key is to have a continuous automated build+test cycle running on all platforms of interest, reporting consolidated results into some convenient web page.
