Sorry to contribute to the discussion and then disappear. I found my way into the hospital and now just getting back into the e-mail. All I was trying to do was focus on the concept. Judging from the resultant thread, the concept(s) seem to being coming into focus. There seems to be different views on as to if OpenSolaris should be more of a distro, or more of a technology. I think this is a good topic I hope to hear more about. I am sorry that I spent too many words talking about wimpy processors and such. I'm sorry this distracted from the real meat of the discussion.
