I have noticed something interesting with STN. . .

(understand, that my network is primarily an NT4.0 based network, and
that is what I am used to. . .)

My PDC is named nt_server1, and the box I am using for a proxy (with
IIS-2 and Proxy Server-II) is named nt_proxy1. I am trying out the
proxy box with STN, and I have set routes (via the dns route page).
nt_server1 -> 172.31.100.5
nt_proxy1  -> 172.31.100.4

If I do this in STN, (and look at what is happening via alt-F2), it
complains bitterly about "database format errors" having to do with the
names. Without the underscores, it's happy.

NT, '9x, WINS, etc. seem to not mind the underscores at all.

1. What's the big deal with underscores that would make this thing
cranky? Unix has been using underscores in names (file names, etc.)
since the fall of Troy.

2. What is the "spec" for a machine name? (i.e. what are the REAL
rules here?)

3. What happens if I use underscores anyway? Does Unix (and STN)
really give a damn?
