The address for the public to access is the public address assigned to your
STN box. What is the URL for your webserver? Your DNS settings have no
effect on this. Your ISP has to know where your STN box and what IP address
it has(static assigned and NOT DHCP assigned) and then in their DNS servers
relate the URL of your website to the IP address assigned to the STN box.

What settings did you modify in STN? Port 80 has to be mapped to the
address of the webserver, so that all Port 80 traffic incoming is sent to
the webserver. Also the webserver has to have a static ip address for your
internal network.

The STN DNS server has no effect on any of this and is not part of the
problem/solution.

Subject: [ShareTheNet] internal web server access from the internet.

Hello,
I read the documentation, and I read the other postings.
And I am not able to get the people on the internet to connect to my web
server that is behind STN.
I have no problem connecting to the net with computers on my network.

I have connected to the STN Administrator web server and adjusted the
settings appropriately. It accepted the settings, but it still doesn't
work.
After I did a port scan of my STN Box from the Internet using a
different ISP and a PC not connected to my LAN, it found port 80 open.
However if a web client or a telnet client set to port 80 try to
connect, it times out, or doesn't allow it to connect.
The internal web server has a static IP, and it's IP and hostname are
listed in the DNS. And I tested DNS and it knows which computer the web
server is.

Any help on this matter would be much appreciated.
Thank you

P.S. In the STN Web Administrator in advanced mode, when clicking on the
tab for DNS it changes from + to - but there is no sub key. But DNS does
work.
