Bob, You'll find that many (but not all) ISP's refuse to support NT or Linux. As these are both "multi-user" operating systems. <insert random rants and raves here> IMNSHO....8^P these ISP's wish to have only a bunch of babbling, check writting nincompoops that point& click on the "internet thingie" to access the porn sites, chats, and/or purchase products and services ......*is the net ready for online purchasing???* for half an hour a day........ Particularly linux users seem to intimidate these ISP's, as using such products as STN could deprive these businesses of extra income for "renting" second access agreements.(read the fine print of many acceptable usage policies) Many of the "free" internet services based around advertising so common now, do NOT support linux users because we can merely place their advertising banners offscreen on another desktop. If they can't force us to look at advertising, we're of no value to them, and not worthy of receiving any sort of support. <end of rant> Best bet would be to attempt a hookup using(if you use wndoze) "terminal" or under Linux "minicom" to see exactly what this service sends back......and then build a script watching for these "prompts??" and sending back the proper reply. One can also choose the option under most modern Browsers "start terminal before connecting" to see whats going on.......er uh.......I think:) I had to hand edit the "envi" file of the ancient version of STN that I use in order to use it, for exactly this same reason.
