STN cannot find your card.

Auto won't necessarily work for legacy NICs.  The 486 grade card
needs to have the address set under DOS.  You can download a program
from 3Com to set the base address on the card under DOS.  Then the
plug and pray settings will be fixed to the value you set.  When
Linux (STN) looks at the card the value will be known by the data you
have set on it to be what you enter in the IRQ and base address
settings in STN.
