> Is John Lombardo still alive?

Thank you for your concern :) Yes, I am still breathing and do read the
list. Many have asked me where ShareTheNet is going, is it still being
actively developed, am I still supporting it? Is the web site ever going to
change?

Here's where we are...
My official line has been that I'm waiting until a stable 2.4 kernel comes
out before I do anything else with STN. The current version is extremely
functional, thousands of people use it around the world, including many
businesses, schools and entire school districts. STN was the first
easy-to-use Linux based internet sharing/firewall software, and is still
arguably the best.

However, I have not been very responsive on [EMAIL PROTECTED]
and for that I apologize. I have been working hard on a number of projects,
including a book on Embedded Linux, that have been really taken my time
away. That is no excuse, and I need to fix the situation. I have a
candidate that I'm trying to recruit to fill the
[EMAIL PROTECTED] role so that the answers will be much faster.
But rest assured, if he does take the position, I will be there in the
background answering the hard ones.

As for future development plans for STN, they cannot be brighter.
SoftwareSuperStore.com has signed a deal with a major network hardware
manufacturer -- I cannot say who because they recently filed their S1 to go
public. We'll help them produce their next-generation router software
based on the STN code. As we search for additional investors, I plan to
come out with a brand new version of STN that will have more features than
any of the previous.

Lastly, I want to thank all of the people who have supported STN on this
list for the last three years. STN is what it is today largely because of
this list. We've had many valuable threads where a lot of people's
questions got answered, and a lot of product decisions got made.

With my sincere thanks,

John Lombardo
aka [EMAIL PROTECTED] (for now :)
