John,

I am one of the many using STN because of the many advantages it has over a pure Linux Gateway. However, it is now nearly 2 years since 2.1.3 was released. Since that time, my requirements, and I imaging others requirements have changed.

In my case, the ability to use Check Point's SecuRemote client behind STN is the #1 requirement. I can acheive this using Red Hat linuxwith IPChains and a patched 2.2.17 Kernel. Furthermore, PPTP also works using this build. I dislike using Linux as I must have keyboard and screen attached to ensure the machine closes down properly and avoid disk corruption(s). and stalled boots.

Personally, I beleive that STN is the better product compared to Freesco and Floppyfw which both have serious shortcomings

Whilst support for FREESwan is all well and good I beleive that most users prime requirement is to access corporate VLANs which mandate IPSEC or PPTP.

Would it be possible to release an interim version of STN with the patched 2.2.17 kernel and the IPSEC and PPTP masquerade modules to meet he NOW requirements ?

I look forward to your comments

Regards

Ian
