I actually grabbed both - FREESCO and STN. My beef with FREESCO, is that the manual is WAY behind - and I have not been able to trap the specific breed of rodent required for the sacrifice in front of my computer to get the thing to work! (grin!!) IMHO, it is just too fussy. STN, on the other hand - works and works and works. . . . I, too, would like to see STN get the development effort it needs - for example an updated Intel EtherExpress Pro driver. (that will allow two cards to be used at once!) Reading thru this list - there are about fifteen updates that would make STN -ROCK-! (like an update to a kernel that is not from the mesazoic era.) If John doesn't have the time (and -I- for one can relate to that), maybe he should toss it out into a GNU license and go totally open source? Or, if he wants to continue milking this cash cow - find someone who has the time and energy to keep STN up to date. What say ye?
