www.astaro.org is basically a free message board site. Plenty of free
answers
there..
I'm not here to push it.. I am still using STN. Astaro is very nice
but to use all the features it provides (http/smtp proxy/filter) You really
do need some hardware..
But realistically, a Pentium ii machine with a 3 gig drive is pretty
easy to find ebay/auction etc.. I bet you could get one for less than the
cost of a linksys
home cable/dsl router if you tried hard. If you want barebones operation the
linksys is a
good option.
After all was said and done the only feature I used a lot with Astaro was
the portsentry.. It is really nice to be able to see who is scanning your
firewall/internal
net. Such a little plugin for STN would make it perfect in my book...
