I use ZEBEDEE to handle the secure connection. http://www.winton.org.uk/zebedee/ and VNC http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/ instead of PC-Anywhere to login. Because of the firewall at work, I only have a single port to get out through. Zebedee lets me tunnel out through that port, and opens up access to any port I want at home for telnet, VNC, .etc access to my home machine. Compressed, encrypted, the works. VNC is like PC-Anywhere, but it runs on practically anything to control practically anything else. Xwindows to control NT/Win9X, NT/Win9x to control Xwindows on unix. Either to control a Mac. I think there is even a palm version to control anything else. Don't think I'll try that. Tiny screen to control a huge screen :-( All freeware of course. Work also supplies Shiva VPN software that by the way, I have never had any problem getting to work through STN, but I often use the Zebedee method because it is easier to startup.
