  for things like DNS, WINS, etc.

*** Add:

Carefully copy down these settings - paying particular attention to the 
DNS settings.

Then connect thru the STN box - reconnect - verify failure - and then 
repeat the same commands, taking careful notes and comparing them with 
the settings you copied down before.

*** Then continue with:

  If your ISP's external DNS servers are not propigating thru to your 
  machine's network config - you're hozed.
