Just guessing - but I'd bet on it...

STN uses a relatively old kernel.  I do not believe that the kernel that 
STN is built with can handle ipv6.

(and if I am wrong - I'm the first who would like to hear it!)

Additionally, due to the way STN is put together - updating the kernel 
is a non-trivial task.  (quite frankly, I'd like to know how to do it.)
