I feel obliged to post a short note in support of the great work that John Lombardo has done with ShareTheNet.
<soapbox> For the last little while I've been subscribing to a mailing list devoted to another similar product, whose primary developer is rude and antagonistic at the best of times. His fellow developers don't seem to mind this, as the product is actually pretty decent -- but I'm fed up with reading his inflammatory remarks and insults. I'm unsubscribing from the mailing lists for that software, and I most likely won't ever deploy that particular product again, as I'd never feel that I could get decent support without exposing myself to ridicule. </soapbox> So, although ShareTheNet might not currently be the most up-to-date of products, I must thank John for having provided STN before anyone else had anything similar, and for continuing to provide calm, level-headed, and courteous support for the members of this mailing list. Bravo, John! PS: As someone who has had a hand in the sale of at least half a dozen STN licenses, I'd like to say that I support any plans for making STN fully "open source" -- STN has paid for itself many times over; opening the source will help revitalize STN and make it yet again a valuable addition to anyone's networking toolkit, especially if official support is available upon registration.
