Dear Sharity Users,
the Sharity 2.6 package does not install correctly on all platforms except
Mac OS X. We did not notice a typo in the installation script since we now
test it on Mac OS X.

To make this absolutely clear: MAC OS X USERS ARE NOT AFFECTED.

The bug affects the automounter in the CIFS directory. The automount
directory is invalid. As a consequence, automounts fail with an I/O error.

Fortunately, this bug is only in a configuration setting and can therefore
be fixed easily. If you use the Sharity GUI, open it, go to the "CIFS
Browsers" section, enable expert mode and change the setting "Automount
Path" to /usr/local/sharity/var/mount (assuming that you installed in the
default location).

If you don't use the GUI, edit the file /usr/local/sharity/etc/sharity.cfg
and change the line

        automountPath = "/Volumes";

to

        automountPath = "/usr/local/sharity/var/mount";

(again assuming that you used the default pathes). These changes require
that you remount the browser or restart Sharity. This can be done with

    /usr/local/sharity/sbin/sharity.init stop
    /usr/local/sharity/sbin/sharity.init start

Alternatively, you can simply create a directory "Volumes" in the root of
your filesystem and leave the configuration as it is.

The bug has been fixed in the 2.6.1 release. Sorry for the inconvenience we
may have caused you!

* BINARIES FOR HP-UX 10.20

The last announcement was probably not clear enough regarding the future of
the HP-UX 10.20 platform. We WILL provide binaries for HP-UX 10.20 in the
future, of course. However, we have to find a new compile host. This may
take a week or two.

* UPDATE: 2.7 Beta 1 AVAILABLE

Sharity 2.7 Beta 1 is now available. This is the first release with an NFS3
frontend and is therefore targetted at experienced system administrators or
people with programming skills. It is available in source code only.

Regards,
Christian Starkjohann.
