Dear Sharity Users,
we have released Sharity 2.9 Beta 6 today. Since we consider this beta as a release candidate for 2.9, there is a set of binaries for almost all supported platforms available.

In addition to the enhancements and bug fixes in the previous betas, this version concentrates on interoperability:

  - implemented NTLMv2 authentication
  - implemented SMB signing for connectivity with Windows 2003
    domain controllers
  - new mount routines which should work on all versions of AIX
  - no separate binaries for Solaris 7 and 8, the single Solaris
binary adapts to the OS version at runtime

If you want to connect to a Windows 2003 server or deploy on AIX or Solaris, please upgrade non-production machines to this new beta version. We want to release 2.9 soon and need your input. Please report your experiences even if everything works as expected. Reports about AIX interoperability (versions 4.2, 4.3, 4.3.3 and 5) are especially welcome!

Other enhancements and fixes found in previous betas:

- fixed bug in network interface detection which caused massive logging
- fixed various possible deadlocks when server connection breaks
- fixed data corrupting bug with files > 4GB
- automatically log out user if the password became invalid
- improved NFS3 compatibility
- improved Solaris integration for shares with whitespace in the share name

Regards, Christian Starkjohann.
