There are pros and cons for automatically logging out on unmount. If you
have a bigger license, you want to be asked for your password only once per
session, even if you unmounted all shares of a server and then mount an
other one.

We are still investigating how to make Apple Aliases work properly. This is
a new field for us because we come from a Unix environment. Sharity
understands the Unix equivalent of Aliases, though: symbolic links. If you
want to create a symbolic link to a share on your desktop, open a Terminal
window and type something like:
cd Desktop
ln -s /Network/CIFS/Server/Share AliasToShare
Replace Server/Share with your server- and share name, of course. You can
then rename and move the symbolic link with Finder.

The SMB share may contain files which are open by an application or
otherwise locked. Sharity is not able to access these files. This is a well
known problem of Windows backups. Do you know the exact error message(s)
reported by Finder?
