OK, then I misunderstood. I thought you wanted it to act this way.Sharity will then fall back to asking the password on the GUI, if it is running. If no GUI is running, it will fail if a password is required.See, that's my problem. I have some really tech-challenged users, I don't want them to even have to open the GUI. I guess I'll stick with stored passwords.
You HAVE to get the password from SOMEWHERE, though. The easiest way is to use stored passwords. This is also much more secure than putting passwords into scripts. If you can get the plain text password from somewhere else, you can use the "-P" or "-S" options to cifsmount and cifslogin.
